William McKnight - President and CEO of CarbideDepot.com
The largest online supplier of carbide cutting tools

William McKnight (Ted) of Birmingham, Alabama, received his B.S. in mechanical engineering from the University of Alabama in 2011. He began working for Carbide Depot after graduation as the Marketing Manager tasked with assigning images and product data to a database of over 250,000 items, as well as managing the product database and inventory with SQL queries and macros. Ted developed his skills with the changing needs of Carbide Depot by learning basic website development to help transition to a new shopping cart software, AbleCommerce, in 2016. After over a decade with the company, William McKnight worked his way up to president and CEO of Carbide Depot.

The idea for Carbide Depot started back in 1997, as an Internet site where unused surplus carbide inserts could be sold. Carbide Depot was originally built as a database of surplus tooling for potential customers to browse through and find bargains. For four years Carbide Depot saved customers literally hundreds of thousands of dollars, while supplying well over a million unused carbide inserts at huge surplus price savings. In 2001, Carbide Depot began securing lines to represent many of industry's most reputable carbide tooling manufacturers. No longer just a site for surplus tooling, Carbide Depot began to add more and more lines: Kennametal, Iscar, Mitsubishi Materials, Seco, Garr Tool, Tungaloy, Widia, SGS, Kyocera, Walter, Allied Machine, Tool-Flo, and successfully launched our own brand Carbi-Universal. Eventually we became the industry's largest online supplier.

William McKnight currently serves as president and CEO, but also plays an integral part in web development and marketing.
